Guess the hidden five-letter word in seven tries. Type on your keyboard or tap the on-screen keys, then press Enter. Every guess must be a real word.
After each guess, every tile makes a claim: right letter in the right spot, right letter in the wrong spot, or not in the word. Exactly one tile in each row is lying. The game will not tell you which.
Tap, click or press and hold a tile in a finished row to mark it as a suspected lie. The marks are notes for you and never change the game. Use them, or don't. Everyone is a suspect.
There is one daily puzzle, the same for everyone, and it resets at midnight UTC. Practice mode gives you endless words and no consequences. Mostly.
How it cheats
Every guess that is not the answer comes back with exactly one lie: a single tile claiming a state it does not have. Which tile lies, and what it claims, changes on every row, and the on-screen keyboard repeats the lie in its own colors.
The lies are not mood swings. The same guess on the same row of the same daily puzzle gets the same lie for everyone, which makes this a puzzle rather than a coin toss. Cross-check your rows, compare your guesses, and work out who is lying.
When the round ends, the game confesses. Every lie is replayed tile by tile with the truth beside it, and you are told which ones you caught and which ones fooled you. Seven guesses is not much trust to spend. Spend it carefully.
FAQ
Is this game unfair?
Deliberately. The lies are the point, but they follow rules: one per guess, the same for everyone on the daily puzzle, and every one is revealed when the round ends. Unfair, not random.
Does every row really contain a lie?
Every guess that is not the answer does, and always exactly one. A correct guess is shown honestly. Everything else is negotiable.
Is there a new puzzle every day?
Yes. There is one daily puzzle, the same for everyone, and it changes at midnight UTC. Practice mode offers unlimited extra words and never touches your daily streak.
Can I play offline?
After your first visit, yes. The site keeps an offline copy of itself in your browser, and when it cannot reach our server the daily puzzle follows your device clock instead.
What happens to my data?
For now, your progress, stats and settings are stored in your browser, on your device. Like any web server, ours keeps short-lived access logs for security. The privacy policy has the details, and it changes before anything else does.
Can I share my result?
Yes. The share button produces a spoiler-free emoji grid of the colors the tiles claimed, not the truth, plus how many lies you caught. No letters, no answer.
We store your game progress on your device and, if you say OK, get an anonymous summary of each round you finish. No name, no account, no IP address.
We changed our privacy policy. We now get an anonymous summary of each round you finish. No name, no account, no IP address. Nothing is sent until you choose.
