Trust Issues

The floor is safe ahead :)

Loading the lie…

How to play

Reach the door. Move with the arrow keys or A and D, and jump with Space, W or the up arrow. Hold jump to jump higher. On a touchscreen, use the on-screen buttons.

The level is one screen and it is not on your side. Floors give way, spikes appear where there were none, and the door has opinions about being reached. When you die you start again, instantly. Every death is counted. Pausing is free. Reloading or leaving mid-attempt counts as a death: only the game gets to cheat.

The narrator at the top of the screen is here to help. About half of what it says is a lie. It always tells at least one truth and at least one lie. Which is which is your problem.

When you escape or give up, the game confesses. Replay your run, switch on X-ray to see every trap outlined, or save the replay as a video.

There is one daily level, the same for everyone, and it resets at midnight UTC. Free play builds endless new levels with no consequences, and a slow mode if you want one. Mostly no consequences.

How it cheats

Every trap is a lie the level tells you: a floor that looks solid, a gap that looks jumpable, a door that looks reachable. None of it is random. Today's level is assembled from a library of trap pieces using the date as a seed, so everyone gets the same level, and the same trap fires in the same place on every attempt. You can learn it. That is the point. Some pieces that betrayed you yesterday do nothing today. Trust that, if you can.

The narrator lies too, about half the time, and the same lines lie for everyone on the same day. It will never tell you which ones.

When you reach the door, or give up, the game confesses. Your run replays with every trap outlined before it fires, every attempt you made runs at once, every place you died is marked, and every claim the narrator made is stamped TRUE or LIE.

FAQ

Is every level actually possible?
Yes. Levels are built only from pieces that have each been beaten, joined so they cannot interfere with each other. Possible is not the same as fair.
Is it the same level for everyone?
Yes. One daily level, the same for everyone, changing at midnight UTC. Free play makes unlimited extra levels and never touches your streak.
Do the traps change when I die?
No. Every trap fires in the same place, the same way, on every attempt. The level is cruel, not random.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes, with on-screen buttons. Landscape is easier: the buttons sit over the corners of the level. Free play also has a slow mode, which is marked in your share result. The daily level does not.
Can I play offline?
After your first visit, yes. The site keeps an offline copy of itself, and when it cannot reach our server the daily level follows your device clock.
What happens to my data?
For now, your progress, stats, settings and the recordings of your attempts are stored in your browser, on your device. Daily recordings are deleted after 7 days. The privacy policy has the details.
What does the share result show?
Your death count, a strip showing where on the level you died most, how many of the narrator's lies fooled you, and your time. Nothing about what the traps are.
Can I save a replay as a video?
Yes. On the confession screen, press Save video. The clip is recorded on your device and downloaded to it. It is never uploaded. X-ray outlines every trap, and you can switch it on or off while you watch.
